New Music: múm – Mild at Heart

Tragedy can be found in the minor keys and minor moments of sadness, but Mild at Heart is an early indicator that the new album from múm will be an artistic triumph.

The Icelandic band’s members are scattered all over the globe, but you couldn’t tell that from the cohesive and finely drawn colours of the melody and arrangement.

The band often contemplates the concept and effects of distance in their music, but here, they sound like one in terms of mind, body, and soul, as the silken threads of vocals and baroque electronica are woven together into something that appears delicate but is tough when put to the test.

Mild at Heart features on History of Silence, their first album since 2013’s Smilewound. The LP is set for release on the 19th of September and is now up for pre-order via Morr Music in vinyl and CD options on Bandcamp.
