About the tracks
An 18th September 2022 snapshot of our music tastes. The day the AT Svengalis asked for our contribution, desperate to ensure overthinking didn’t condemn us to another unfinished project! Naturally a joint effort. And because Factory Acts are serial mixtapers – in both old and new senses – a pleasure to compile but equally daunting because of the artists we had to exclude.
The only self-imposed rules – 10 artists each – preferably ones we both liked, none repeated, symbolising our pasts, presents and futures. As it turns out, we managed to weave them together with some kind of sequential logistics in mind, so that each track is associated with the one that follows it. Some connections are blindingly obvious and others wilfully obscure.
So, there’s a challenge – how does each track relate to the next? And which are the only two of these artists neither of us have seen live?
No clues, and answers on a postcard to ‘Factory Acts HQ, Salford/Manchester divide (spiritually somewhere near Cork).’
We hope you like listening to this mixtape as much as we enjoyed fretting about putting it together. It will just about fit on one C90 and one C60 if pirating is your thing. Press play, and dance!
