About the tracks
Putting together this playlist, I wanted to include the tracks that are on repeat on my speakers at the moment, including some artists I know, admire, and respect… It was quite a tough call, really.
To me, every one of these artists has a unique and powerful sound, an excellent voice, and/or real songwriting, arrangement, or musical ability. I am a bit of a snob musically, I am afraid, and I find there are so many mediocre acts out there these days with the “right image” or social media skills, etc., yet lacking real talent and substance.
I opted to choose music right across the board from indie to synth without including supergroups like The Beach Boys or Gorillaz or voices like Nina Simone, Billie Eilish, or Kate Bush—those are all in my soul but not on my stereo at the moment, so I’ve tried to keep it real.
I think it’s an eclectic mix and gives a good idea of the kind of influences and styles of music that are really doing it for me at this time.
