Episode 12: Lines of Silence

About the tracks

Between the silence there’s always been music – this mix shows the lines and threads that connect Dave and me musically – where they cross and where they go in different directions. Some of the tracks we could have both chosen due to shared tastes in music (Factory Records, jazz, post-punk); others are more personal to us. My choices are a mix of things I was listening to during the recording of our latest album, The Long Way Home and some, the steps on the path that led me to these choices.

Unsurprisingly, there is krautrock – from the pastoral with early Faust to experimental motorik by Neu!, ambient by Edgar Froese and contemporary Japanese kosmische. But there’s also folk, acid or otherwise, contemporary composition, electronica and electronic pop. I love all these tracks and artists – not all of them get reflected in the music we make as Lines of Silence, but they certainly inform it.
