New Music: teethin – THROWIN SHAPES

Published On: August 24th, 2025|

The rumbling, jerking post-industrial and post-punk of THROWIN SHAPES is ominous and invigorating, a window into the band’s sound – and maybe the future of the UK.

A tense and terrifying collision of clipping’s beats and Mandy, Indiana’s sonic fury, it somehow verges on techno and noise rock simultaneously, a guttural cry of eloquent rage at a society being sent on a slow death spiral by its own repeated idiocy.

The inspiration for THROWIN SHAPES came from a sadly everyday event in the UK. Says the band, “We were sat in the pub one time and heard a group of middle-aged white men talking about how Katie Hopkins and Trump say it how it is.”

“We started chatting about how some of the working class idolise people like this and blame others who they don’t fully understand, be it down to ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or religion, for issues that those they idolise helped peddle.”

“Sometimes it feels like we’re just ants crawling over each other arguing amongst ourselves while being laughed at and spat on by the upper classes.”

“We wrote this after that, with the image of someone throwing shapes, like dancing in ignorance while the world burns around them kinda lodged in our heads. It’s a weird feeling but extremely frustrating; hence, the song isn’t a ballad per se.”
