New Music: Charlotte Maine – Stay

Published On: October 16th, 2026|

Charlotte Maine isn’t a person but a band, and if Stay is anything to go by, it’s a damn fine band indeed.

Featuring on their Anywhere, Everywhere album, Stay is one of those songs you want to hang around, in large part as the vocals of Christine Barrett flow lightly and shine brightly thanks to their C86 energy.

The band, comprising Christine Barrett, Michael Barrett, and Kilian McMahon, deftly sideways that vocal presence into a place that is often anthemic and rawer, followed by brief and sudden bursts of math rock and shifting time signatures provided by drummer Christian Lindemann.

That all works within Stay, as it reflects on the nature of relationships; changes are always on the cards, and even wonderful times can bring unexpected emotions and consequences. Relationships are a two-way street, but here we are shown how we can learn to walk side by side, together.

It’s a refreshing and rollicking number, bursting with positivity and love, about which the band says, “[Stay] is a song about finding your footing in a relationship and helping your partner realize that they are so much more special than they themselves can see.”

Anywhere, Everywhere was released this June, and can be heard on Bandcamp and Spotify. Get all the latest news from Charlotte Maine on their Facebook and Instagram page.
