New Music: Heaven For Real – Hold Me Back

Twins Mark and J. Scott Grundy are the creative core of Toronto-based Heaven For Real, though Hold Me Back is a more collaborative affair.

Featuring Olivia Scriven on vocals and Jen Yakamovich on drums, Hold Me Back is a very laid-back trip through synth-flavoured indie. More daydream than dream pop, something the band describes as cloud rock, it has a childish innocence about it, one that doesn’t obscure the always-evolving elements of ambient, indie, and electronica that give the folkish vocals such a wonderful foundation.

“This is a major new step for our project,” say the brothers. “More atmospheric rock sounds; [it’s] the first single from our next LP coming in November on Mint Records.”
