New Music: JOURNEYGLO – Wave After Wave

Dallas-based JOURNEYGLO different facets of faith and belief in others on Wave After Wave from her recently released album, Limp By Your Side.

Wave After Wave comes across as a meditation on having your faith – be it in a person or something more existential – tested by the process of watching and waiting for a resolution.

The stripped-down feel of the arrangement and the song’s sudden hard stop may reference the lyrics’ reflections on how all things change. But there’s no answer, no neat bundle of ideas to wrap up the contradictions the song raises, a place where faith finds its purpose and meaning, healing emotional and spiritual moments of doubt.

“Each song on [Limp By Your Side] came from a different pocket of that in-between. Many don’t offer resolve, and that’s intentional,” she says. “I wanted some of them to end mid-thought, mid-feeling, without forcing a clean conclusion.”

“They’re an honest pause between what was and what might be. I’ve learnt that if we don’t sit with these uncomfortable moments and feelings, we miss something for the next part of our journey.”
