New Music: Cloud Studies – Last Night I Fell Again
Adam Cresswell and Martin J Langthorne have joked that they formed Cloud Studies because they “needed something to do with the vast array of effects pedals they had amassed.”
Since forming, they have produced some of the best shoegaze the UK has to offer, so it makes sense that they’d look to one of the best – and most underrated – UK shoegaze acts to cover.
Last Night I Fell Again is Cloud Studies’ take on the Moose classic, and serves to illustrate how Cloud Studies – now a quartet – have quickly defined their own take on the genre.
Kirstin Isolde Lavender takes on vocal duties, shifting the original towards a greater melancholia, as if marking the end of something. For Cloud Studies, however, it signifies that a great journey is just beginning.
Their take on Last Night I Fell Again was commissioned by Portland, Oregon based shoegaze podcast Afterglow Echoplex and will be featured amongst a series of tributes to classic songs from the original shoegaze era.
Last Night I Fell Again is now streaming on YouTube Music and Spotify. It’s also available to download on Bandcamp. Keep abreast of all the latest news from Cloud Studies by following them on Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.
