New Music: MAYA – Alessa Moore

Londoner rockers MAYA see out 2025 with their debut studio-recorded single, the blistering Alessa Moore.

The band has a reputation for thrilling live sets, and Alessa Moore is a fabulous indication as to why that’s the case. It’s got all the swagger of The Libertines’ early days, the focused anger of Sex Pistols, and the confidence of Towers of London that they know how to rock and roll.

As a song, Alessa Moore is a lot of fun, but also a scathing takedown on how the internet is (deliberately?) fostering what the band describes as “nihilism and shrinking attention spans in an increasingly online-driven social climate.” Proving that the personal is political without needing to get intellectual about the whole damn thing, Alessa Moore is pithy and purposeful.
