New Music: Snake Orange Cake – Vision

Berlin-based Snake Orange Cake is the musical project of Julia Carlsson, originally from the Åland Islands.

The fourth single from Snake Orange Cake, the intro of Vision comes across as having absorbed the techno-driven energy of Berlin, but soon shifts into a very different sonic and emotional terrain, even as it always remains part of the wordless flow of the cityscape. But her background on the Åland Islands also has a striking presence, as Carlsson sings of deep rivers and quicksand.

In those moments, the urban and the rural meet in every element of Vision, as the sounds of the city become one with the enduring rhythms of nature and the mantra-like flow of the vocals.

States the artist about the meaning of the track, “Vision is my way of casting a spell through sound. It’s a hypnotic glimpse into intuition and the future, released with a witchy music video shot by Maren Frey.”
