New Music: Daily Worker – The New Insincerity

‘Enshittification’ is already shaping up to be the word of the year for 2026 and beyond, something Daily Worker skewers quite nicely on The New Insincerity.

The first single to drop from their Prefab Maverick LP, it has vocalist and songwriter Harold Whit Williams in cutting form lyrically, also employing sharp indie and power pop motifs to rip away the veil of lies, misinformation that infects everything from politics that sways us to the toilet paper that we buy.

That might sound a bit polemical, but Williams has a vocal style and a witty way with a phrase that has a lot of Elvis Costello and Tom Petty about them – warm and familiar. He’s singing to you, not at you, not offering to lead a revolution, but to kick against the pricks of outrageous internet fortune hunters and fake messiahs flogging vitamins.
