New Music: Color Theory – What You Are to Me

Brian Hazard’s Color Theory ventures into the lighter, more pop side of their sound on new single, What You Are to Me.

Hazard has viewed the track as being a shift in tone of sorts from 2025’s This Bright Circumstance album, and you can hear that in the bubbling synth flourishes and nods to the upbeat pop of the 1980s. So, while that album could be viewed as an examination and casting off of the trials and tribulations of the past, What You Are to Me looks to the present and hopes for the future.

Not only does Hazard allow his vocals a lighter air, though slightly melancholic, but there’s a playfulness in the lyrics and the piano that is as sweet as honey and as light as a summer cloud.
