New Music: Nausicaa – Ultraviolet
From post-rock to post-punk, the brilliant colours of Ultraviolet by Nausicaa are technicolour and tension-filled.
Naarm/Melbourne based Nausicaa brings to you unexpected places sonically and emotionally, and at times, you could almost pitch Ultraviolet as shoegaze. My Bloody Valentine is the nearest comparison there, so you know instantly there’ll always be a twist in the mix in the song’s evolution.
And that comes in the shades of No Wave and post-rock: sharp tones reminiscent of Sonic Youth and vocals full of longing ground the sound in the now, wanting to make you feel and experience the track’s inner being.
Ultraviolet will feature on the band’s debut album, which is out this May. The song is now streaming on Spotify and can be downloaded on Bandcamp.
Nausicaa come to Europe to make an appearance in Lisbon, Portugal, on the 27th of March. For news on that, as well as album updates, be sure to follow Nausicaa on Instagram or TikTok.
