New Music: COOL HEAT – Not the Same

Not the Same is a taster for the upcoming EP from Chicago-based dream pop adjacent project, COOL HEAT.

Eden Sierotnik – aka COOL HEAT – successfully plays with the narrative of dreamy guitar music on Not the Same, especially in the vocals’ mournful post-punk tones.

The track is driven by a guitar melody that borders on Morse code, sparse and urgent, sending a spiralling signal that is given weight by the lyrics. The vocals and washed-out synths bring out a layered warmth and find hitherto unknown commonalities between post-punk, cold wave, and dream pop, wisps of emotion dissipating on contact with the ether, keenly felt despite their intangible nature.
