New Music: Geography Of The Moon – Stay Clear Stay Sharp

Wiry post-punk with an unashamed political edge to it, Stay Clear Stay Sharp is a musical manifesto from Geography Of The Moon.

Though the bones of the song had been conceived in the context of audience interaction at a gig where the band had to perform no monitors and no bass traps, it was spurred on by the band coincidentally finding themselves in Nepal during the recent youth-led revolution.

From those sources came Stay Clear Stay Sharp, the lyrics and vocals of Virginia Bones embodying the cut and thrust, call and response, jumble of events and possibilities that mark the turmoil just before change is achieved. And just like a form of direct activism, Stay Clear Stay Sharp isn’t showy. It’s steely, focused, message-driven and almost a template of how to organise a little uprising of your own.
