New Music: Decline and Fall – Everywhere is Nowhere

While Decline and Fall may have only formed in 2024, the polished onyx textures of Everywhere is Nowhere are timeless, smooth, and sleek.

Though the colour onyx is known for its dark grey and black charcoal tones – and Everywhere is Nowhere certainly possesses those in its bristling arrangement – it also bears resemblance to the stone of the same name, with bands of colour flicking in the vocals and synths.

The band has a lot of experience within its ranks: it comprises Armando Teixeira, who is known for pioneering EBM and industrial in Portugal, alongside author and musician Ricardo S. Amorim, plus Hugo Santos from ultraheavy industrial rockers Process of Guilt.

And maybe it is their individual histories and how they interact within the band that allows them to create songs like Everywhere is Nowhere: roots in the early days of EBM and post-punk, yet facing the present and future alongside Lebanon Hanover, She Past Away, and Selofan. The song shows the band building on the distinctive sound they have forged on last year’s Scars and Ashes album, dark and dynamic.
