New Music: Baudelaire – It’s Dark

New Music: Baudelaire – It’s Dark

Published On: September 15th, 2026|

Chaotic and cathartic with the briefest moments of respite, It’s Dark by Baudelaire covers a lot of ground, sonically and emotionally.

The most basic of human bodily functions – blood, piss, and muscle – flex and release in the lyrics as strongly as they do in the arrangement. It’s Dark has an ‘as live’ quality to it, one that evokes not just the magic of a gig but also the occasional moments of communion and claustrophobia that occur in the heat of a performance.

Moments of quietness, tense and unnerving, are soon broken by a howling vocal and a wall of noise that swirls around in a hurricane of post-punk and industrial rock, leaving you gasping for air. You might want the song to end, to let its iron grip go, but you’ll soon find yourself wanting to get lost in its primal noise.
