New Music: DARK – Desire

In the year since we covered NYCTOPHILIA from Hamburg, Germany outfit DARK, they’ve not only released their NIGHTMARE LP, they’ve started working on their second. Desire gives you a delectable glimpse of what’s to come.

The band says the track, which has an age-restricted video over on YouTube, is “an ode to lust. It’s a reverence to the realms where reason is forgotten.” The song, like the band, has a foreboding air of mystery about it. Anchored in the early days of post-punk, Sisters of Mercy and Clan of Xymox come to mind when listening to Desire.

The blend of guitars, electronica and blackened vocals have an entrancing, dangerous sensuality to them, that when combined makes the song the perfect accompaniment for midnight assignations and denizens of the dark scene.
