New Music: Dreaming of Islands – Brightstar

It’s a very quick return to the blog for Malmo’s Dreaming of Islands – one which sees them following up the wonderfully atmospheric Dunes with the dark and deep Brightstar.

Like their previous release, it sees the band experiment with a post-rock sound but infuses that with elements of trip hop and dark electro, feeling at times brooding and slightly dangerous, as beguiling as it is ominous.

It’s a suitable companion piece to Dunes, feeling like a brewing sea storm, ready to whip the sands of time and emotion from their solitude and reverie, in part down to Ida’s fittingly understated but ultimately expressive and demonstrative vocals.

Brighstar is out now and can be streamed along with more of the band’s music on Spotify.
