New Music: Dubinski – Information Overload

Hot on the heels of their Ciggy Burns single, Information Overload by Dubinski is another whirlwind insight to their upcoming album.

The band has been gigging relentlessly over the last three years, whether it’s supporting the likes of Young Knives and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, or headlining their own tours in the UK and Europe.

I can’t help wondering if the mix of grit and glamour that comes with touring has fed into the DNA of Information Overload. It has a vitality about it in the vocals and arrangement that feels like they were born on stage, creating a raw and melodic alt-rock banger that could easily be a party anthem.

It’s guaranteed to get crowds engaged, and not just for the thrilling rock and roll attitude of the track, but also the lyrics’ timely insight that came about due to the band’s concerns about “data mining, digital burnout and the cost of algorithmic control.” That is especially and issue them as a band operating in a complex and increasingly hard-to-navigate online world.

The band, comprising the Edinburgh-based Gaine brothers Eugene (on vocals and guitar), Fergus (on lead guitar), Donal (on bass), and Eoin (on drums), look to the original spirit of punk here as it combines social commentary with irresistible riffs, coming at it from an alt-rock direction that is passionate and infectious. If you’re a fan of Fontaines D.C., IDLES, or Benefits, make catching Dubinski live a priority for 2026.

The accompanying video for Information Overload was conceived and created using hand-drawn artwork by bassist Donal. Partly inspired by the felt-tip naturalism of animator Bob Godfrey (Roobarb and Custard, Henry’s Cat) and Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-Head), the video reflects the lyrics’ frustration of digital algorithms determining the fate of modern musicians.
