First Day Of Spring make an artistic return their roots on their latest single, THE RIVIERA (MODERN NATURE).

With an undulating tone, it’s like being absorbed by the unending expanses of water and flatlands that typifies where the Thames meets the sea. And rather an estuary, much of the action on the track happens below the surface.

The guitars and bass line never stop moving, the emotions of the lyrics change like the tide, but the sweet indie perambulations Samuel D Jones fashions for us has riptides of melancholy that will easily take hold of you. One for fans of Pulp, Suede, and The Auteurs.

States Jones about the track, “The second volume from the HUMANFLESH series is THE RIVIERA (MODERN NATURE), a song that centres on understanding serenity, our desired outcomes and how we quantify what is time wasted. Amidst this theme was a sense of reconnecting with my coastal routes on the Thames Estuary, and the calmness gained from writing by a continuous, indefinite landscape.”
