New Music: Hifi Sean & David McAlmont – Sun Come Up

Sun Come Up sees music icons Hifi Sean & David McAlmont continue their ongoing musical collaboration after 2023’s Happy Endings in the leadup to the release of their DAYLIGHT album in August.

The track feels like the beginning of a new day in more way than one, as the duo brings the best of their solo careers to bear on every second of Sun Come Up. McAlmont’s voice has never sounded better, his soulful tones allowed to sweep and soar, intimate and ecstatic in turn.

The arrangement feels born outside time, synthwave and Northern Soul married to a Balearic beat as the lightly coloured synths evoke images of new dawns and new horizons.

Being surrounded by friends old and new as the sun rises might be a great way to listen to Sun Come Up, but you can bask in its radiance all on your own and look forward to a whole album of solar-fuelled joy.

DAYLIGHT comes out on the 16th of August and is now up for pre-order on Bandcamp on CD and in a range of vinyl limited editions.

DAYLIGHT will be the first of two albums Hifi Sean & David McAlmont in the coming months, with its sister album TWILIGHT set for release on the 31st of January, 2025.
