New Music: Jenny Kern – Now We Know

Canadian-born, New York-based singer-songwriter Jenny Kern has teamed up with producer Andy Seltzer to record new material. It’s a successful collaboration, as you can hear on Now We Know.

Kern’s vocal style is an intimate, confessional blend of folk and country-rock, with the former having the upper hand in terms of the lyrics, the latter in the arrangement. Kern says her music comes from a desire to work through “Self-doubt, regret and the search for comfort in painful seasons.” and though that process must be hard at times, here it has undoubtedly led to the creation of beautiful music.

Kern said this about the song and the themes behind her music: “It’s almost cathartic, sharing emotion. Being open is not an easy feat for anyone. I want people to know that these songs come from an honest place. We all struggle to find comfort in ourselves while being open to the unexpected.”
