New Music: Joy Forever – Slow It Down

Hamburg’s Joy Forever mark a headline gig in Berlin with a new EP, Brand New Faces, which features Slow It Down and four other indie gems.

Slow It Down typifies the way the band approach Brand New Faces, with classic indie sounds of the 80s finding themselves in close, compatible proximity to shoegaze and post-rock.

The band travelled from Hamburg to Brighton to record the EP with producer Theo Verney, and maybe that dichotomy is why Slow It Down evokes images of vivid lives competing to exist under ocean-swept skies, colour coexisting with monochrome, surviving and thriving against the odds.

It’s certain to strike a chord with fans of bands such as The Horrors, The Murder Capital, and Fontaines D.C., but also those who love indie music with meaning.
