New Music: Live Skull – Neutralize the Outliers

Post-punk outfit Live Skull were part of an early 80s NYC art-noise scene which also gave birth to acts like Sonic Youth and Swans. Live Skull continue to produce zeitgeist-capturing music, as on new single Neutralize the Outliers.

The song does base itself on a post-punk foundation, but it brings a more melodic, almost hardcore meets No Wave essence to the fore. Full of lo-fi warmth in the arrangement and intense fire in the vocals and lyrics, Neutralize the Outliers shows that time has not dimmed the band’s light, but has made it burn ever more brightly.

The track will feature on the band’s Party Zero album, of which Live Skull’s Dave Hollinghurst says, “We watched the chaos unfold live on the computer screen, freaking out, confusion and doubt on our faces.”

He adds, “I realized that not only are we the hunted, but we are the hunters – and what are we going to do about it? Strike back with our own brand of chaos and noise – at least we go down in a sonic blaze of glory.”

Follow Live Skull on Facebook and Instagram for news on gigs and the new LP. You can listen to Neutralize the Outliers and more music from the band on Apple Music, Deezer, and YouTube Music.

Party Zero will be released on the 26th of May via Bronson Recordings and can be pre-ordered on Bandcamp in digital, CD, and vinyl formats.
