New Music: Lucy McWilliams – Mr Useless
Dublin-born singer-songwriter Lucy McWilliams delivers some hard truths in a bubblegum indie wrapper on the acerbic Mr Useless.
McWilliams’ breathy vocals bring the lyrics into sharp focus, bringing their twists and turns to life on a belter of a song that doesn’t hide its dark side. If you like The Cardigans and Ravonettes, this is for you.
“The song is quite self-explanatory… It’s the first time I enjoyed being angry with a situation. I think sometimes having rose-tinted glasses on can actually be quite refreshing, even if it is a little deluded,” states McWilliams.

“But, once they’re off it’s funny to see how things snap into place. I guess this song is about seeing flaws in a situation that you hadn’t before, and it was exciting to write from that perspective.”
Mr Useless is from Lucy McWilliams’ Third Second Chance EP. For the latest music news from McWilliams as well as tour updates and much more, follow her on Facebook or Instagram.
