New Music: Milano Flash – Electric Eyes

Now on to their fourth single, Swedish/Greek collective Milano Flash are progressively revealing a particularly distinctive approach to Italo.

That is instantly noticeable on Electric Eyes, which is full of musical Easter eggs if you’re a fan of 80s synthpop but also the more poised sounds that followed. The immediate influence of Giorgio Moroder and the Rimini scene of the 80s gives the song its discotheque beat, one that is diverted into realms that are ruled over by Please-era Pet Shop Boys and the spectral grandeur of early Ladytron. Electric Eyes is the musical equivalent of a Negroni Sbagliato: light and sparkling, with a bittersweet flavour to its aftertaste that gives it that much more of a kick.

Catch up with Milano Flash on Instagram for updates on upcoming singles. Electric Eyes is out now and streaming on Spotify and Apple Music, and is available to download on Bandcamp.
