New Music: Nasal Wings – Vans & Snails

This unusually named band won us over with an infectious and breezy indie-pop number born from an equally unusual inspiration.

Vans & Snails is a taster for Yellow Breeze, the new album from Nasal Wings, and is a high-tempo pastel-coloured number full of summer tones and sunny memories.

The pop themes in the arrangement are very reminiscent of Andrew Applepie and Home Counties: personal stories told in a very personal style. The lyrics came about during a summer trip, when one of the band noted the similarities between snails and travelling in a camper van.

Says the band about the song, “Vans & Snails is our summer and road trip anthem. Written by KD on the northern coast of Spain, it reflects on slow living, coastal freedom, and dancing through life at your own pace. Inspired by vans, snails, and eco-awareness, it’s made for coastal drives, sandy feet, and no FOMO.”

As to the band’s moniker? “The name Nasal Wings comes from our father, who used to say our nostrils flutter when we sing, a small sign of something greater flowing through us,” they reveal.
