New Music: North Innsbruck – Archduke of Nightmares

Minneapolis, Minnesota, outfit North Innsbruck team up with Greg Online on the beautifully titled single, Archduke of Nightmares.

Post-punk with an electronic heart and a human soul that sheds despair to a dance beat, Archduke of Nightmares will make an icy impact your heart and your feet as it gets you to hit the dancefloor, singing along to the confounding, almost despondent lyrics.

North Innsbruck describe their music as fitting within the dark synth genre, but the easy-going existential crisis that Greg Online’s vocals brought to the song led to a shift in their sound. The timeframe where the guitars of Joy Division mutated to the stark disco of New Order is a shimmering presence, but so too is the leftfield energy of bands like Blaqk Audio and BlakLight, as the Minneapolis band never forgets to make the listener feel part of the song.
