New Music: Parker Leftlover – Wasteland

Wasteland is the first single from Obligation of Joy, the upcoming LP by Swiss duo Parker Leftlover.

On the basis of Wasteland, the album is going to be a dizzying and fluid collage of sounds of styles blended into seamless darkwave-meets-pop that delivers that to the listener with a post-punk attitude.

The inspiration of Xeno & Oaklander can sometimes be heard in the interplay between the vocals, glacial and glossy, though they keep their humanity at the core.

And while the synths often bring to mind early 80s Sheffield experimental electropop, Parker Leftlover – Nikita Thévoz and Jonas Weber – frame that around a post-punk bassline and kosmische flourishes that indicate the upcoming album is going to expand a few horizons.
