New Music: Phantogram – In A Spiral

With another series of North American live appearances scheduled for November and December, as well as talk of a new album, synth-rock duo Phantogram have released a dreamy video for new track In A Spiral.

The track sees Sarah Barthel’s vocals play with the listener cat-and-mouse style, as they go from ingénue to fearsome rocker at the flick of a switch. There’s some occasional dense and dissonant elements to the song, not to mention swaggering bluesy guitar licks and drums that wouldn’t go amiss on a classic rock track. There’s so much going on here, the excitement and danger it creates can feel a bit claustrophobic at times. Maybe’s that the point given the nature of the lyrics, but that blend of upfront emotion and sheer verve means you’re sure to be playing In A Spiral over and over

In A Spiral is out now and available on all major platforms to stream or download. Be sure to check out the band on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for news about the single, as well as upcoming releases, live dates and more.
