New Music: Public Order – Joker

Looking back at teenage memories and high jinks with the benefit of a few years of personal growth, but still harbouring a fondness for times past, Joker by Public Order is moving and thoughtful.

That backward glance resonates throughout the lyrics and arrangement, with nods to acts like Razorlight and The Kooks having a wispy presence on Joker. The song is pure Public Order, however, a mix of youthful exuberance and distilled experience on a song that showcases the Welsh band’s creative and emotional growth over the last year.

Talking about the nostalgic tones of the song, the band has said, “Joker is a bittersweet snapshot of youth. It’s about living in the moment, embracing the chaos, the messiness, and the beautiful but fleeting moments. It’s the realisation that not everything is meant to last, and that’s okay.”

Public Order are currently touring the UK with Everyone You Know, and will play with Razorlight later this year. Joker can be streamed on Spotify and YouTube Music, and will also appear on the band’s Hello EP, which comes out on the 28th of March.
