New Music: Queen Cult – Calm

Rock-oriented femme-queer fronted quartet Queen Cult certainly aren’t calm on their track of the same name. It’ll feature on their debut 4 track EP Woman That I Know, which is due out this Friday.

The band cites bands like No Doubt, Paramore, and Royal Blood as influences. You can hear similarities with Gwen Stefani in the impassioned and deeply powerful vocals for sure. The music has a rawness to it, a barely tempered wildness, as if they’ve transcribed a live performance to the studio. It turns the lyrics – in fact the whole song – into an exuberant wall of sound and emotion.
