New Music: School of X – Feel of It

Denmark’s School of X follows up 2020’s Armlock LP with Dancing Through The Void, which is due out on the 24th of September. Before that, however, the band treats us to a new single, the vivid offbeat pop Feel of It.

The group, which is the brainchild of Rasmus Littauer (also known for drumming with Danish pop star MØ), ticks all the right boxes for a summer hit on Feel of It. It hints and nostalgia and escape, flitting from the 60s to the current day and back, hitting points in between with bewildering speed but incredible smoothness.

The easy-going chorus hits home as the song speaks of fond memories, ones where the downside is forgotten, buried in wave after wave of seemingly feel-good psychedelic pop reverie. One for fans of Empire of the Sun and Phoenix, though on Feel of It, reality shines through more than with daydream tones associated with those bands.

About the song, Littauer says, “It’s about the desire to break out of daily routines and boredom, craving for headspace, excitement and bigger emotions. It’s a desire that seduces me and haunts me and sometimes comes with a cost. Sometimes you end up all alone because you’ve been blinded by the light.”

You can catch up with School of X via Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. You can listen to the song and more music from the band on Spotify and Apple Music. Dancing Through The Void will be released via Tambourhinoceros and can be pre-ordered in vinyl and CD formats over on Bandcamp.
