A collaboration between two already established artists – Sidewalks and Skeletons and CASHFORGOLD – soft siren reinvent and challenge the space where our hearts and minds try to place shoegaze.

Dethereal has some of the trademarks of the genre, such as honeyed vocals and walls of distorted guitar noise, but the track also pays attention to changes in music after its first wave of popularity. That gets you some monumental riffs and a percussion that could almost crush your ribcage; it’s that powerful emotionally and sonically.

The impact of alternative rock means Dethereal can sound both like a crunchier Mazzy Star or a blackened Cocteau Twins at different points, but it’s all oddly soothing in its sonic dominance and subtle pop sensibility in the melody.
