New Music: The Grey Merchant – Blood Book

Blood Book is the first new music from Cork band The Grey Merchant since the 2017 album Avenue De Rennes. Intervening years have seen them gain two new members and greater electronic nuances. You can hear what the changes sound like by listening below.

The song goes for a more epic and anthemic take on a post-punk sound. You can hear pick up resonances of Paradise Lost circa Gothic. The blending of crisp electronica and rumbling rock tones is more successful here that on that seminal but flawed album; in large part down to the booming vocal and stirring piano melody.
