New Music: Palm Ghosts – Lorelei

Nashville-based Palm Ghosts (Joseph Lekkas, Ben Douglas, Jason Springman, and Rene Lambert) are a dreampop / post-punk band that creates achingly beautiful, fragile, and majestic music. Listen to Lorelei below to explore their sound.

An intoxicating mix of shoegaze and dreampop, the song is driven along by the duality of ethereal vocals and the stirring, yet icy guitar melody. A brooding bassline allied with a metronome-like percussion adds to that seesaw sense of engaging with and then eschewing the emotion expressed in the lyrics. Taking from the 80s but not in debt to it, Lorelei is a sweet, spiky little number. Lorelei is out now, head over to the socials – Facebook and Twitter – to get information on how to stream or buy the track, or pre-order the Wide Awake and Waiting EP on Bandcamp.

Palm Ghosts play Valhalla Tavern on Austin, Texas, on the 21^st of February.
