New Music: Postcards – Dead End

Published On: March 4th, 2020|

Back in October, we covered Fossilized by Lebanon’s Postcards (Julia Sabra, Pascal Semerdjian and Marwan Tohme). At the time, they were working on album The Good Soldier (details here), from which new single Dead End is taken.

It seems unfair to label the song dreampop or shoegaze, though those genres are certainly part of the DNA of the song. Here, the trio add layers of tension and, at times, darkness that take you by surprise. You can pick up elements of Ride or My Bloody Valentine in the way loudness is used as an instrument in itself, but the quieter passages of the song work equally well, taking you equally unawares and amplifying the emotional intensity of Julia Sabra’s vocals.

You can listen to Dead End on Bandcamp and other streaming services. You can learn more about the band and The Good Soldier over on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter socials for information on the song, upcoming live dates and releases, including a tour of Germany in March.
