New Music: Emily Afton – Timebomb

You might remember us covering Lonestar last year, but having released her new EP in recent days, Emily Afton has also dropped a video for one of the featured tracks. You can check out the clip for Timebomb below.

The track is very different from the fractured country of Lonestar, but the essence of both tracks is the same. That ‘Dusty in Memphis’ vocal style, smoky and seductive, adds more weight and emotion to the down-home tales of love in the lyrics. The more electro/clubby arrangement unexpectedly adds a counter-intuitive layer of melancholy to a track already drenched in passion. When you listen to the track in the context of Consideration, you can sense that it’s part of a greater story, but it works just as well on its own.
