New Music: tinsel – to you to me

Brighton two-piece tinsel take us on a motorik electronic trip to occasionally unusual terrain with to you to me.

The track, which is accompanied by an atmospheric acid techno track titled to me to you as part of their debut release, is cool and confounding in equal measure. You think you know where the icy-cool vocals of Gem D’Souza are taking you, maybe some dark wave grooves with a minimal ambience – before crunching guitars and a bass line that goes from tight to acidic in a heartbeat provide some danceable detours.

D’Souza and producer Smalan Odgers have a background in performance and promoting in Brighton. Maybe that gives them a bit of an edge when it comes to knowing what will make heads turn and feet move, because the mix of indie, rock, industrial, and breathless pop that defines the song is one that is hard to pin down and hard to let go once you hear it.

Head to Instagram for all things tinsel; to you to me was released on the 2nd of October and can be heard on Spotify and Bandcamp.
