New Music: Valentich – Memory Wave

With a new EP called Spectral in the pipeline, and coming not long after January’s Locus Echo, Salford’s Valentich has dropped a video for one of the featured tracks, the sublime Memory Wave. You can watch it below.

With nods to early Orbital and the work of Scanner, the track marries a dancefloor rhythm to some more esoteric, abstract shapes and tones. Hints of classic techno bubble through at times, though the track eschews the harder edges of the genre, making Memory Wave an enjoyable though occasionally challenging piece of sonic sculpture.
