New Music: Jenny Kern – Run

Was it really just over a year ago when we wrote about Now We Know from Jenny Kern? Well, the Canadian-born Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter is back on the blog with Run, which again sees them team up with producer Andy Seltzer.

Where Now We Know had s subtle yet always-present folk undercurrent to it, Run sees Kern add a few musical strings to her bow. There’s still that Americana/roots feel to the vocals for sure. But that’s expanded both in the arrangement and melody to something, that while still engaging, sees Kern successfully paint an emotional message on a broader, deeper musical canvas.
