New Music: Glaare – For Sale

As they reach the end of a decade together as a band, Los Angeles-based Glaare (Brandon Pierce, Rachael Pierce, Rex Elle, and Marissa Prieto) show on For Sale that they have lost none of their inventiveness nor their love for the darker sounds and sides of life.

The song, which is from their new Your Hellbound Heart album, is a raw and bruising yet incredibly open-sounding fusion of post-punk and alt.rock. Deliciously dark and full of foreboding, the song opens with a machine gun rhythm before morphing into something more rounded and emotionally intelligent, as shades of Gothic metal, along with Rachel Pierce’s versatile vocal performance, bring slivers of light and a hint of redemption to the heart-rending lyrics.

Says Brandon Pierce about the lyrics, “The narrative is essentially a conversation with your shadow where you’re ridiculing your actions and mutilating yourself by failing to understand the nature of your ego. Having a rigid core of beliefs that you take as doctrine and what happens when you break them. The judgment and lack of ability to reconcile with yourself.”

Glaare’s For Sale single and Your Hellbound Heart LP are out now via Wyerd Son Records (click here for U.S and E.U. ordering details) and can also be streamed on YouTube Music and Apple Music.
