New Music: Zanne Hanna – Ruin

Fans of CHRVCHES, Purity Ring, and Maggie Rogers will appreciate the sophisticated, glossy and somewhat skewed electropop of Zanne Hanna’s Ruin. Bittersweet and beguiling, Hanna’s poppy vocals bring the heartache and moment of revelation in the lyrics to life as the arpeggio-laden arrangement and brisk melody offer up a feeling of positive resolution for the song’s protagonist.

Says Hanna about the track, “Ruin dives into the bitter reflections of being with someone who makes you feel small. I co-wrote this song with my friend Tim Vindigni and then recorded, produced, and mixed it myself. The breakdown is meant for you to dwell in the emotional impact of this kind of relationship, like you might move forward but you’re overwhelmed by the sudden realization of your position.”
