New Music: Pile – Lowered Rainbow

Boston underground rock legends Pile released their All Fiction album on the 17th on February. One of the standout tracks is the progressive-flavoured but decidedly alternative-sounding dark Lowered Rainbow.

There’s a central theme to the album, says Pile main man and vocalist Rick Maguire: “Musically, All Fiction took a bunch of different shapes before it landed the way it did on the record. The structure of the song didn’t really change much from when it was written so most of the alterations made were textural, and we pushed it further than a lot of other songs we have.”

He adds, “ Lyrically, it’s about cults, conspiracy theories, and the trend toward increasingly imaginative beliefs about reality.”

Pile play a series of dates in Europe and North America this year – head over to their website, or their Facebook and Instagram pages for ticket details.

All Fiction is out now via Exploding in Sound – streaming details can be found here, and it can be purchased in vinyl, digital, cassette, and CD formats on Bandcamp.
