New Music: SGO – Glimmer

Meanjin/Brisbane quintet SGO (previously known as syrup, go on) know their way around creating genre-defining shoegaze and dreampop gems if the shimmering and calming tones of Glimmer are anything to go by.

Grounded by a some solid percussion and a taut bass line, Glimmer nevertheless takes flight within seconds, creating the sensation of being suspended in mid-air. You can hear something of Lush, Blankenberge, and Curve in the occasional sonic shadows that flit across the summery arrangement, but the overall feel is one of being free and bathed in warmth.

Glimmer is out now via 4000 Records to download on Bandcamp and can be heard on all streaming services including YouTube, Apple Music, and Spotify.

You can find SGO in Facebook and Instagram for all the news on upcoming live appearances and releases.
