New Music: John MOuse – That’s Just The Way Our Love Is

After working with the likes of Gruff Rhys and Miki Berenyi under his The Fashion Weak moniker, Cardiff’s musical cult hero John MOuse once again releases under his own name with new single That’s Just The Way Our Love Is.

With an occasionally deadpan set of lyrics and an arrangement that veers from 80s cosmic synthpop and electronica to early house and back, this is an unusual by enjoyable listening experience.

MOuse’s vocals soothe the sharped edges of the track, crooning about true (?) love with a lot of wit and flair. Fans of Boy Harsher and Scott Walker will love the music and vocals respectively, while the lyrics would give CMAT a run for her money. Yes, it’s that eclectic – and that good.
