New Music: Club 8 – Getting By

Sweden’s Club 8 have just released their sixth single of 2024, and each one somehow seems to be better than the last. Check out Getting By below.

Getting By sees Karolina Komstedt and Johan Angergård play with the boundaries of dreampop and shoegaze, two genres where it can sometimes be difficult to find something new to say.

They do so, successfully, by adding a sense of post-punk style urgency in the melody and tempering Komstedt’s ethereal vocals with lyrics that move from domestic bliss to existential angst in a heartbeat. Will there be more music from the duo this year? Let’s hope so.
