New Music: Kristina Nichol – Liar

Kristina Nichol was born in Canada, but her new single Liar possesses an introspective and impressive Scandipop ambience. That becomes even more surprising when you find out that Liar was recorded in Phoenix, Arizona.

The upfront nature of the chorus may cause you to do a double take, but it does serve to keep the listener’s attention on the lyrics as a whole. Nichol soon brings a smouldering pop presence into play, drawing you into what quickly becomes a hook-heavy sad banger with a strong message of personal reaffirmation. Liar will go down a treat with fans of SZA, Tove Lo, and Aurora.

Nichol reveals about the lyrics, “Liar delves into the concept of the negative thoughts that plague our minds and hold us back from reaching our full potential. It’s a reminder that these thoughts are not our own, but rather lies that we must combat in order to succeed.”

“I drew inspiration from conversations with friends and family about self-worth, inadequacy, and imposter syndrome. These themes are universal and I knew I had to explore them in my music.”

Liar is out now and streaming on all major music platforms including Amazon, Spotify, and Apple Music. Learn more about Nichol and her music by heading over to her Instagram and TikTok socials.
